#bidbuyshowwin

We may be partial, but we think the Showpig.com team is one of the best in the country. With that said it’s high time we introduce ourselves, for those of you who haven’t met us. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to introduce our team members one-by-one, so you can learn more about those behind the brand. We hope that you enjoy these glimpses of the folks running auctions, answering phones and sending you emails. Remember, if you want to learn more about the staff member helping you, you can always visit the Meet the Team page at: https://showpig.com/meet-the-team/.

Today, we’re highlighting Katey Brattain, Online Auction Account Manager & Advertising Coordinator.

I’ve been with Showpig.com since: 2006

Hometown: Greencastle, Indiana

What do you do (or how would you describe your job): Every day at Showpig.com is different, which is why I love my job! Daily, I oversee all online auctions and the auction manager team. Also get the opportunity to manage and work with a group of breeders on their online sales and marketing, too! We work diligently to provide the best online auction experience in the country! In addition to online auctions, I work closely with our Showpig.com website designer, social media coordinator and office staff in order to deliver a top-notch website and social presence as well as unmatched customer service. Love traveling to shows and events to promote Showpig.com and meet our customers as well.

Favorite part about my job: I LOVE absolutely everything about my job! Love working with showpig breeders across the country and helping them market and sell their animals through our online sales platform, traveling to pig shows and visiting with breeders, their families and showmen, and I especially love being a part of an awesome livestock industry and family and giving back to the industry I grew up in and am passionate about.

My co-workers describe me as: Brilliant, Tireless, Mentor, Hardworking, Invaluable, Dedicated, Worker, Leader, Passionate, Detailed, Workaholic

What do you listen to while you work: It might sound boring, but I don’t usually listen to anything. I think, work and brainstorm better with no distractions.

What is your favorite new feature on the new Showpig.com website: Our new Showpig.com website and auction platform are both amazing! If you haven’t checked them out, please do! The auction platform is mobile-friendly. It has two viewing options (grid view & list view), features real-time bidding with auto-refresh, offers text and email alerts, as well as a watchlist and favorite auctions, and it includes a fast and easy payment portal! Our website has a ton of opportunities for breeders, feed companies and allied-industry partners to promote their products, services and events. The breeder and industry directory, blog, forum and educational resources are a few of my favorite services we offer on the new site.

Outside of work I enjoy: I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Cardinals’ baseball, Colts’ football, trips to South Dakota, shopping, kayaking and spending time on the water are a few of my favorite things!

What is your favorite show: World Pork Expo

What is your favorite breed: Duroc

What would you be lost without: Cell phone, computer and notebook – I never leave home without them!

What is your favorite quote: “Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.” -Lou Holtz

Who has had the biggest impact on your life: There are so many amazing individuals that have had an impact on my life; it’s hard to just name one. However, through involvement in junior swine organizations such as the NJSA, Team Purebred and 4-H, I had the opportunity to meet many life-changing mentors. The individuals within these organizations invested in and gave a young girl from Greencastle, Indiana, a chance. They are the ones that have had the biggest impact. Jennifer Shike, Darrell Anderson, the late Ralph Doak, Kevin and Megan Wendt all believed in me, and I can’t thank them enough.

If you could have supper with anyone (living or passed) who would it be and why: I would absolutely love to have the opportunity to have supper with my two grandpas, Wendall Brattain and John Richardson. I was extremely close with them growing up, and they both passed away when I was in college. The ability to simply give them a hug, have a conversation, catch up and enjoy time with them would be unmatched.
