Today, we’re highlighting Tonya Fender, Online Auction Support
I’ve been with Showpig.com since: 2013
Hometown: Lynchburg, Ohio
What do you do (or how would you describe your job): I am a part of the online auction support. A big chunk of my job consists of payment collections. I remind buyers of their payment options and assist them with payments. I also answer phones in the evenings for anyone that needs assistance. I get to talk to the vast majority of the buyers!
Favorite part about my job: I love being able to work and be a part of the industry I grew up in all my life! Working with buyers to help them bid and buy their next project on Showpig.com is one of my favorite parts of the job.
My co-workers describe me as: Conscientious, Consistent, Hard Working, Organized, Warm Hearted, Caring, Spunky, Supportive, Passionate, Talkative
What do you listen to while you work: I honestly don’t work with anything playing in the background. I get distracted easily by music, podcasts and TV, if I am working on the computer. As I work, I can usually hear the cars pass by on the road, since I live on a pretty busy state route. I always have the dog sleeping at my feet.
What is your favorite new feature on the new Showpig.com website: One of my favorite parts of the website is the layout in general! It is so easy to find what you’re looking for, whether you are a buyer, seller or showpig enthusiast. It is also very neat that both the website and auction platform are mobile friendly!
Outside of work I enjoy: I enjoy working on my family’s grain and 95-head showpig sow operation, and judging hog shows. In my spare time away from pig related activities, I like spending time with my dogs, Jagger and Cash, on the family farm and watching college football – GO BUCKS!
What is your favorite show: National Western Stock Show
What is your favorite breed: Duroc
What would you be lost without: I would be lost without my dog, Jagger! He is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that is my fur child! He does all the chores on the farm with me, goes almost everywhere I go and is always at my feet, when I am working at my computer for showpig.com.
What is your favorite quote: “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
Who has had the biggest impact on your life: My dad has had the biggest impact on my life! He was my first best friend, and he is still one of my best friends as an adult. He has led by example in so many ways, and I strive to be more like him. You can always count on him for a listening ear and sound advice.
If you could have supper with anyone (living or passed) who would it be and why: I would chose to have supper with George Strait! I am a huge fan and would love to hear about his journey – the ups and downs and the life lessons – as a county music icon.
