Looking for things to do this week at Team Purebred’s Eastern Regional? The Showpig.com team has put together a list of places to visit in Timonium, Maryland. While it is a small town, it is located less than 30 minutes from Baltimore and only an hour from our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. There are a lot of hidden gems in the Old Line state for everyone to enjoy beyond the barn.

“Wherever you go in Timonium, you must have a crab cake,” according to Showpig.com’s Amy Smith. So we put together a list of places that will check that and more off your Timonium bucket list.

The Corner Stable claims to have Baltimore’s best crab cakes and ribs, a dynamic duo if you will. This is also Amy’s favorite spot for crab cakes. The restaurant has been family owned and operated since 1972. In addition to their claim to fame, they offer many other American classics and local favorites. However, the online testimonials read that if you like crab, you have to stop here!

Oprah Winfrey’s award-winning crab cakes can be found at Pappas Restaurant. Pappas has an expansive menu beyond their crab cake, offering the sports bar food we all know and love. Looking for a delicious dessert? Order the Kevin Wendt approved coconut cake. If Oprah and Kevin Wendt recommend a restaurant, you know you need to try it!

If you are wanting to get steamed crab while in Maryland, make your way to Ocean Pride. This place is a seafood lover’s dream. This location is just 6 minutes from the fairgrounds!

Looking for more close restaurant options? Michaels Café is right across the street, and Hightopps Backstage Grille is beside the fairgrounds!

Looking for a fun after-show activity but wanting to stay close to the fairgrounds? Look no further than Breakout Games – Timonium.  With nine different rooms to choose from, you are sure to find an adventure.

If escape rooms aren’t your thing, you might find yourself at Monster Mini Golf, just 15 minutes from the fairgrounds. They, of course, offer mini-golf, but also have an arcade, laser maze, and laser tag. There’s glow in the dark fun for everyone!

If you are wanting to take a drive into Baltimore there are many historical landmarks. Be sure to check out the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. It is the site of the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812. This inspired Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner” in September of 1814.

In Baltimore, you will also find the National Aquarium. The National Aquarium’s mission is to inspire conservation of the world’s aquatic treasures. It delivers meaningful experiences through its living collection of more than 20,000 animals from more than 800 species of fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, marine mammals and sharks, as well as through exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences.
