Miller Show Stock is a growing, multi-breed show pig operation located in Bogard, Missouri and owned and operated by Brandon and Alesa Miller. The 40 sow business specializes in Spots, Berkshires and Crossbreds and recently added some Hampshires and Polands to the mix.
The pig business has always been a staple for Brandon and his family. His wife, Alesa’s and her family have been raising pigs and involved with show pigs in the ring since the 1940’s. Brandon himself grew up raising pigs with his family and diversified his production knowledge by working on a commercial hog farm throughout high school and college.
One of the biggest influences in Brandon’s life was his father-in-law, Frank Raasch. He comes with a wealth of knowledge and advice for the pig business and has helped Brandon and his wife get started with their own operation. While he has had many other influences and mentors along the ways, Frank’s years of experience in the business have set a great example for the type and kind of pigs Brandon wants to raise at Miller Show Stock.
“We strive to raise functional but trendy pigs without losing the integrity of breeding stock. There is a wealth of knowledge to be learned on every level in the industry and we strive to play a small role in servicing all those segments,” Miller says while talking about their business goals and vision.
With their long-time involvement in the swine industry and love for show pigs, Brandon and his wife make it a goal to raise quality livestock and put them in the hands of customers looking for a valued experience. They want to ensure that every customer can enter the ring and have success, all while making the process it takes to get to the ring an enjoyable one.
“We want to play a role and help support and the industry we both love, so we can see the traditions we love so much continue in the future and for the next generation,” says Miller.
Selling and merchandising livestock off the farm has been the primary selling tool for the Miller family. As new constituents to the online selling space, Brandon thought The Debut was a great way to introduce their brand and the quality of pigs they have to offer to the online audience.
