Overview

Showpig.com is looking for a highly motivated, organized self-starter to join our marketing team and help facilitate our summer planned events as a summer intern. Our marketing department focuses on two large events in the summer; The Exposition and Showpig.com All Star Camp, and this intern position would play a vital role in the execution of such events. This position would also require assistance with the Showpig.com social media pages and development of tools and resources for consignors to prepare for the fall sale season.

This intern should be prepared to work in a remote work environment and have the ability and motivation to take direction and jump start projects without being in a confined office. The intern can expect to finish the internship having gained broad experience in event planning and execution, social media management and various other outlets of marketing and advertising.

Description

  • Start Date: May 30, 2023
  • Completion Date: August 8, 2023
  • Remote position with event travel included (Exposition, NSR/NJSA and CPS/Team Purebred Summer Spectacular and Type Conferences, Showpig.com All Star Camp, and Ohio State Fair)
  • Compensation available

Responsibilities

  • The Exposition
  • Assist with final planning and preparations
  • Help with set up/tear down and booth design/organization
  • Develop a social media coverage plan to highlight the week and nurture engagement
  • Gather social media content for Facebook/Instagram posts, Instagram stories, live show coverage, etc. both in the booth and around the grounds.
  • Assist with Showpig.com merchandise in the booth.
  • Assist with managing the booth space during booth hours
  • Assist with set up/tear down and coordination of Customer Appreciation Event
  • Survey and summarize the events and prepare a report outlining the overall impact, positive outcomes and areas for improvement.

 

  • National Summer Spectacular and Type Conferences
    • Develop a layout and look for the booth space at the event that is captivating and helps embody the More than a Showpig messaging
    • Work with the Marketing Brand Manager to create a strategy to draw people to the booth space through giveaways, activities, education or promotional tools
    • Develop a social media coverage plan to highlight the week and nurture engagement
    • Gather social media content for Facebook/Instagram posts, Instagram stories, live show coverage, etc. both in the booth and around the grounds.
    • Assistance with set up and tear down of booth
    • Survey and summarize the events and prepare a report outlining the overall impact, positive outcomes and areas for improvement.

 

  • All Star Camp
    • Develop a concept for a breakout session/evening event for the camp that focuses on leadership and personal development
    • Assist with camp schedule organization, communication and implementation
    • Assist with any final planning and preparations
    • Develop a social media coverage plan to highlight the week and nurture engagement
    • Gather social media content for Facebook/Instagram posts, Instagram stories, live event coverage, etc.
    • Survey and summarize the events and prepare a report outlining the overall impact, positive outcomes and areas for improvement.

 

  • Additional Marketing Projects
    • Develop a Social Media Calendar for the month of July with content that aligns with brand message, new products, relevant company information and events being attended.
    • Write one blog piece that aligns with a perspective piece or customer/industry feature and one blog piece that focuses on a wrap up of things learned through the internship.
    • Create a strategy to further integrate the Showpig.com and Pig Planet Partnership by developing plans to collaborate on content and co-share show results and postings to ensure pigs sold online get recognition and coverage when winners are highlighted.

 

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student studying Agricultural Communications, Ag Business, Animal Science, Marketing or related.
  • Livestock and Swine experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with event planning and execution preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of social media.
  • Organized, self-starter, self-motivated, ability to work remote and communicate via remote methods.
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task with limited supervision and check-ins.
  • PowerPoint, Word and Excel experience.
  • Photography and Design software experience is a plus.
