Re: Pig Breaking in Back

I don't think there's something you can do about that because that's the way she is. Maybe try feeding her a little more so she gets more stronger.

Re: Help! Advise on feeding

I agree with the above advice, feeding oats is the best, I always recommend that to other farmers.

Re: What type of education do i need to get?

I agree with all that's been said above on the type of education you need. Another way to get some knowledge in raising pigs is to get to know other pig farmers in your area, maybe take up a part time job in helping out in the farm.

Re: Who has the best?

There are number of online resources or websites that you can get the best Polands, that's how I buy mine. You can check out littlepigfarm.com and copperpennyfarm.net. These two can get you going.

Re: Essential Keep'n on

Most farmers give it to them 15 mins before the show and 2 hours before. But some pigs do give a tough time drinking it especially when its the first time.

Re: Help with a Poland

Is it possible for you to get another one because it's not easy working with a "mental" pig. You will just be frustrating your child and your self trying to manage it.

Re: keeping pigs warm

To keep my pigs warm we use heat lamps and propane heaters but make sure there is some distance between the heaters and the pigs. And try to make sure the shelter is well closed so the heat does not escape easily.
