Re: flush pans

No good pictures, but here are a few from my early days in the room. There is a 55 gal crock in the ground that the pans flush into. The pump in the picture is used to pump the manure outside. http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg601/sflem849/1408067827229_zps38e51340.jpg http://i1246.photobucket....

Re: Current Sow prices in your area

We are a little better around here. It is grilling season and all sows in WI (ok...most) go to Johnsonville Brats. That helps the prices a little. Not really worth shipping unless they are pure junk.

I bought the A&A Kit. Works for me. Make sure the platform doesn't flex.

Re: Best semen shipping rates

Good point on sample size. I'm only looking at about 20 sows on three farms, but we went from sticking everything in Sept-Oct to missing everything in Late Oct-Nov. Whether it is semen quality or shipping problems (multiple orders) it went south fast late in the season. As for the guarantee, I want ...

Re: not getting the papers

IMO, three weeks is nothing in paperwork time. It takes a week or more for ABA to get papers out if there wasn't a problem. Then if the AI certificate isn't there yet (I have had problems with the go to Berk boar stud) they toss it to the back of the line. Not to mention the fact that they don't cal...

The trailer is a mill finish. After you acid wash and/or polish do you wax it?

Be careful if using Showtime's, their website has a typo and there is no July and 2 Augusts.

Re: Setting up flush pans

Thanks for the tip on the cordless screwdriver. Sometimes I struggle to think outside the factory made box. They did come with two different lengths of legs. They are 2" different and that just seemed like too much to me. Must not be. http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg601/sflem849/Pig%20Pic...

Setting up flush pans

I have a couple questions on how to set up a flush pan system. First of all how much pitch should I have in the system? How do you get the pitch? Second it came with this auger with a dead motor. Is the auger necessary? Where do you get a new motor? It looks like it may say Dayton Gearmotor??? http:...

It seemed like if a purebred tripped once it got tanked in the class. I didn't think the crosses were too whacky, I don't think the champion fit his all day type. You thought I was quite a bit off? You know me, I do talk a lot and get distracted easy. :)
