Re: Hernia repair, is it worth it

If it just now started surgery is the only option which will cost you 150 or so if memory serves because they knock the pig out. The one I has repaired busted later, didn't effect the growth of the pig though.

Re: Introducing new show pig to pigs already in barn

1- don't put them together. If you need to have them all running together take 2 of the 3 pigs out and switch pens with your single pen, at least this way it's 1-1 fighting they'll get it out of their system. Just hang out and keep breaking them up, then after the 2 settle down put the other 2 in th...

Re: Cup waterer gravity flow?

We have a cup waterer with fresh water (pressurized) in the summer. But winters are cold and hoses freeze in the barn. Want to get away from 15gal heated buckets that they tip or get disgusting with wash back. Do the cup wateres work on gravity flow? Which type? We have the type they push a button ...

Re: Moving bred gilts

How long should I wait before I trailer my bred gilts? How much of a risk would it be to move them within 30 days of breeding? Within 30 days of breeding or farrowing?? If you're talking about within breeding once you've bred them and they're given time to settle and are out of their cycle you can ...

Re: Cup waterer problem

From a height stand point since it's a cub water, I'd say just high enough where they can reach it to drink. Really though once they start that it's a hard habit to break, almost easier to put the nipple water in and if you're able to have it on an adjustable pipe that you can raise and lower relati...

Re: Hi Point Genetics?

Given what they were caught doing and that was mixing boar semen, there's no telling what you'll get. Winmor farms bred and raised Make it Easy and he had ZERO pigs sired by him after testing so if they guy who raised the boar can't get the right semen then no one can. Call Brent???  What...

Re: 225K sons

I have some piglets on the ground out of Table Max at Hi Point that fit the bill for what you are talking about. Massed up, big ribbed, big boned piglets. I would recommend him. I just bred back to 225K and Make it Easy. I'll let you know win a few months how they look. Hope you actually get the se...

Just a good way to drive out the little guy. Anyone that thinks this will clear up things is fooling themselves. So if I sell you a boar or gilt that tested 90 or higher would you retest?? I can get one pig tested good get another hamps ear notched that same way, poof a pig with papers saying it's g...

Re: Hamp boars cancelled pedigrees☹️?

My understanding is that all hamp sires have to meet the 90% standard to record litters farrowed past a certain date. As long as pigs are sired by a boar that has met standards they are eligible to show from what I have read, however, I could be incorrect. So I've been speaking with NSR in a few ba...

Re: exclusive

Depends on the sow you breed to, we had very complete pigs, decent bone, nice midsection. Not blown out wide but proportioned well. Good structurally, I was impressed with him and used him a couple times on the same sow.
