I recently bought my first crossbred boar. He is from a well known boar family. My question is ihave been approached about selling semen out of him. I have never done this and am looking for advice about how to do this. I don't want to sell a product that isn't high quality. Just looking for some ti...

Holding ration
I have a Gilt that is currently 160 pounds. I have 80 days until our show with a Max weight of 300. I would like to slow her down for awhile then feed normal at the end. My question is what is the best way to hold her and not loose her shape.

Re: AI post Matrix...WEIRD Experience NEED Insight
I have never used matrix, but i have had them stand for first breeding and want nothing to do with it 12 hours later. Could have been a quick heat. If you got one dose in them you might be ok.

Re: Poor ADG
Two year ago i had a whole litter that didn't grow. They were sold to multiple people who all fed different ways. They all strugled to put weight on. If they are all from the same litter it is very possible it could just be genetics. Some of these crossbreds just dont grow. I would make sure they ar...

Re: Fitter52
My experience with feeding fitter 52 for an extended period of time is you need to ad a fat source. It will ad muscle but it will reduce your cover.

Re: Front chest fill
Okay that is what i was afraid of. It is the first rib that needs it the most. I will start feeding that and see what happens. She is good everwhere except right behind the shoulders. Thankyou

Re: Are they eating to much?
It they were mine. As long as they are cleaning it all up and not wasting it i would give them what they all they will eat right now. They will slow down when it gets hot

Front chest fill
I was wondering what is the best way to fill out the front chest area right behind the front shoulders without slowing the rate of gain. The pig is currently 150 pounds with 90 days till our fair. Currently feeding 719 and a half pound of champion drive.

Re: Breeding for only 1 litter per year: Bad idea?
In my opinion i would find some cheap semen and make a batch of feeders to sell. When you leave a sow open all summer they tend to put on extra weight. They are also harder to find in heat when you want to breed them. It also sometimes reduces the litter size of her next litter. To me it is better t...

Re: exercise questions pre farrowing.
Exercise is good for them in my opinion. Mine run in a pasture until i put them in a farrowing pen. The exercise helps build up their stamina for farrowing. You dont want fat gilts when they farrow, or their will be problems.
