<t>Thanks for the suggestions. Fortunately late this afternoon she started eating. It was almost as if somebody flipped a switch because after hardly even touching her feed for going on two days, she just all of a sudden walked up to the feeder and started eating. When we left her she was done and w...

Hog not eating at show
<t>My daughter has her hog at a show right now. The judging is tomorrow morning. She's been having her good days and bad days when it comes to eating ever since she went into estrus last week (the hog not my daughter). Prior to that she was eating great and gaining weight better than ever. Now she m...

Safe-Guard Withdrawal time?
I read on a thread in the Health Forum that there is no withdrawal time with Safe-Guard. Is this correct?

<t>Yesterday afternoon she was acting strange. Kind of hyper actually. She kept digging a large hole right by the gate to her pen (which is not where she usually digs a hole), she'd put her front feet on the lid of the self feeder stand up on it and bite at the top of the feeder, she'd scratch at on...

<t>She weighs 250 lbs. and I've been giving her 6 lbs. Showtec 16%, 1 lb. oat groats and 1 1/2 cup soy oil/day. I was hoping to get her up to 8 - 9 lbs./day but she's always been a finicky eater and she always leaves a little bit at each feeding so I doubt she'd eat anymore if I gave it to her. Besi...

<t>Today was day 2 and she hardly ate anything! I normally feed her 4 times a day and there is usually just a little left behind each time I go but today I skipped two feedings because there was most of the feed from this morning still in the feeder and tonight I emptied out her feeder and put fresh...

<t>O.K. Wouldn't a higher fat yogurt, such as one made with whole milk, help your pig to gain weight better than a low fat one? I know that most yogurts on the market now are low fat or even no fat, but if you look I'm sure you could find a higher fat version. I'm not sure if it would be flavored th...

Estrus and appetite
Will a gilt typically lose her appetite during estrus? Our hog was eating well until today and she has signs of being in estrus. If they do lose their appetite, how long till they get it back?

<t>I'd be sure to listen to anything Hampy recommends. He is extremely knowledgeable and he has helped me with our pig a lot. <br/> <br/> What I shared is from my experience with our pig. I have a feeling though that our pig is the exception to the rule. She obviously has her quirks because I know t...
