Paylean question

For years I have used the High Octane paylean that you fed 2 oz with 5.87 # of feed. My newest bucket is called High Octane 900 and you only feed an ounce with 6# of feed. Did I miss something and things have been changed. It also talks about feeding the last 45 to 90 #. In the past we were directed...

Re: Inducing gilts? Current protocol

So only one shot? I have not been a believer of forcing nature but maybe in these smaller gilts inducing them their 1st time might not be a bad thing. I have asked around about Estrumate and everyone has give me dosage of 1 cc up to 1.5 cc. Does that increased amount do the exact same as the 3/4 you...

Inducing gilts? Current protocol

I have a gilt due on the 19th. I would like to induce her in hopes of avoiding delivery issues. She is a smaller framed gilt. I have not induced since 2004 and wanted to know the current protocol. All I have at this time is Lute. I have been seeing that people are using Estrumate now but in this sho...

Re: mixing my own sow feed??? Can it be done???

California about 35 miles north of Fresno. When looking at labels of a sow feed what ingredient should come 1st? I have seen a few different things. To me it should be corn. I hope this will be an option for me.

mixing my own sow feed??? Can it be done???

I had a thought today after stumbling on a video on youtube and wondered if it is possible to mix my own sow feed at home. I raise show pigs and am always looking at options for feed for my sows. All the feed mills close to me want me to order 3 ton and I can't go through that amount without it goin...

Re: First time farrowing and my sow is sick

Last year my sow farrowed with very little trouble. Her previous litters were another story. When she delivered the placenta there didn't seem to be enough and a strange looking piece. Almost like a piece broke off. She became ill and would not eat. Would only drink. I had started her on penicillin ...

how long does raw semen last

took my sow to the boar yesterday morning and he live covered her. I guess I was just lucky that time. He is at a different location and I had to trailer my sow there again last night and I could not get him to reach. This morning I didn't waste my time trying to get it to reach and thanks to youtub...

What age to breed boar?

I have a boar that will be 8 months on July 8th. At what age should they be to either collect from them or live cover? The ladies are already standing for him which is good. I did let him be in contact with them and he did mount them but it was their head and what ever else he could jump on to. he w...

Re: Shot to make sow-gilt drop eggs after insimination??

Since pigs are low man on the totem poll I am sure they didn't do studies on what the meds do. I have heard that so many times.
