Gilt that will not eat much

Any ideas how to get a gilt to get back eating? She will hit the feed hard for about 3 bites and then lay down beside the feeder and then will just take a few bites during the day. Thanks.

I would pull them off the 19.5% and bring them down to at most 18% but with gilts, they want more cover and the 16% will help. The barrow may get stiff with the high protien.

Preg Check on Gilts

I was wondering if there was a way to preg. check a gilt or sow? On cattle you can palpate or do a blood test. At what time of gestation could a sonogram be done or is even available? :?:

When you figure it out, please let me know. I can hit a heifer easier than this. This should be a lot easier becuase you are not having to feel for the cervix.

Farrowing Ease

<t>I have spent most of my time with cattle and I am just getting started on the pigs and I was wondering if boars had a rating like bulls that give a calving ease score? I have learned a lot from Piggy and I hope primeswine was just not thinking when he/she made the comment. Please, let's keep this civil and not start bashing each other.

Have a wonderful and safe day that God has granted us.
