we have seen that a few of our sows will have litters of 12 -14 piglets but they are all different sizes,,one sow farrowed 4 times always large litters , but a range of sizes,,is this genec ?

I did ,,now I wonder why,,,bought 2 on a Saturday and rebred one on the following wednesday,,,why are they not ultrasounded and guaranteed ??? The second gilt was the grand champion , she farrowed,,11 pigglets,7 live, 5 need to be pulled. She was in show condition and we had 30 days to lean her down...

what advice do you have to pick the future herd mates out of a litter,,only the biggest? thinking more importantly keeping a male, normally they are castrated at day 7

people have commented on the diameter of the loin muscle tends to be much larger on our pigs at market, so we would like to keep that trait and increase the rear leg [hams]..we do sell a few to 4-Hers in the county fairs,,5 market hogs, 3 fairs, all above 3rd place

are there any crosses that work better than others,we have pure Hereford,and pure York. Looking for length and strength . also with these two breeds are there breeds we should avoid? we where thinking of looking for a landrace boar thanks

we have about 25 sows,run outdoors year around,barn for shed beded knee deep in straw. sows where on a self feeder eating about 6 lbs per day, now on corn silage, alfalfa haylage, and 2lbs grain. when a sow shows signs of farrowing she is moved into a warm area and fed self help on grain, normaly fa...
