Sow won't cycle again
I have a sow that farrowed in August and then I weaned her three weeks later. I purchased her as a bred female and was told that she was carrying her third litter. At the time time of weaning I planned on breeding her back. I gave her a shot of PG600 and ordered the semen. However she never cycled, ...

Freezing Semen
First off I would like to know has anyone used frozen semen? If so did it work by getting the sow/gilt pregnant? Also I've been reading about how the number of piglets born alive goes down with frozen semen, is that true? If frozen semen is a good avenue to explore, what kind of equipment do I need ...

Heated Floors in Showbarn
I am in the process of building a new show barn with an area inside of it to farrow pigs. I do have concerns about putting heated floors in the barn such as will the pigs be too hot with the shavings and the heated floors. Also is it even worth it or is it a waste of money? Any feedback is greatly a...

Tough Decision
I recently went to a Lindner Feed clinic with Jordan Leathermen and really liked their product however I also like Umbarger(which is really big in the midwest). I was hoping to buy 6 pigs and show 2 at my county fair, if I don't win grand or reserve buy back and take to state fair. So here's my ques...

Just starting out.
So I am currently getting ready to start my own farrowing operation. I have read some of the post on here about people have problems with their litters. I personally want to try to have the best experience at this as possible. I understand that is not always the case, so my question is what steps sh...

Re: Gilt only had 1 baby?
Is she in the crate now? You should probably give the sow some type of antibiotic. As well as vaccinate the piglet. Did you give an iron shot to the piglet?

Re: PICKY eater and STUBBORN to walk
For your feeding problem trying making a slope feed. What I do is get ground meal feed and add water to almost where it is like oatmeal before you put it in the microwave. The cake mix should help. I've used it before and they really like it! Now your walking issue, try to be gentle with her. When f...

Re: Missed it
You could try PG600. It is expensive, however I've heard it works. The only problem is you're looking at a 3-5 day turn around from now.

Which brand to choose?
Hello everyone! So I currently am starting to look at prospects for my county, state, and jackpot shows. However I am at a lost of what feed brand I should feed this year. Last year I had 6 barrows on Sunglo and used there 18G product with S'More fill and sumo. I had some pretty good pigs but I've r...
