Worm him if you haven't recently. I'd add some Full Figure and Slop to the 18%. I'd also wet the feed mixture to see if that gets him going.
Try 2.5 lb 672, .5lb oats, .5lb Slop and 3 oz. Full Figure. You need 2.5lb a day to get were you want. Not sure it will happen. Good luck!

Re: Ulcer - Rectal bleed
We never found anything concrete. It was assumed to be twisted bowl.
What you're dealing with sounds like an ulcer. I've had luck reading that with the ulcer protocol you'll find online here.
Good luck!

Re: Coughing, coughing, coughing and pink eye!!! HOGDOC!!!
Coughing has been popular this year. I've talked to folks going through what you are. Not sure the fix yet. As far as the pink eye or "zombie eyes" as I call it, tissue all swollen around eye and red eyes. I used Penicillin. Just a cc or 2 directly in the eye. Cleared up over night. Now, m...

Re: Success rebreeding sows following C Section
I re-bred a Hereford this past year. Her first litter was a C-section and then she had 10 on her own this past February. Her C-section was due to piglet size. I asked the vet when he was done about re-breeding her. He told me she could have pigs on her own, just hope they aren't as big. This past Ap...

Ulcer - Rectal bleed
I recently had a client contact me about a pig vomiting. No biggie I thought. We'll treat him for an ulcer. This was a 185lb, Feb 1 Duroc barrow. I gave them the ulcer protocol off of here that I've used before. Omeprazole, bismuth, B12, oats, BO-SE, pro-biotic. They started this that evening. The n...

Feed bunk ideas
We are looking for feed bunk ideas. We are currently feeding 10-15 sows outside. With the weather we've had the lot is a muddy mess. We have a small concrete pad that we currently use but it's not big enough. I've seen some concrete sow bunks but can't find info on them. Just interested to hear what...

Re: Induction Protocol
We inject 1cc Esturmate in the crease. Normally have pigs in 24-36 hours. We have had a few go around 40ish hours. Only one time have we had to give a second shot.

I was thinking the same thing. I was just hoping someone had done this before and had some pros or cons. You know a sow herd, if it's not bolted down they'll carry it away! lol

Door wind block
With winter soon to be here we're researching a wind block for the barn door. It's a 4ft slider door that we keep open for the sows to go in and out to the pasture. What can or do folk use for a wind block in the door way or can you make a "hoggie door" Just looking for ideas.

Re: Late breeding
UPS is killing me as well. lol We were expecting semen on Friday. I came home and nothing! I called the breeder and he tracked the package. UPS stated the package was destroyed and undeliverable. I hope someone got semen all over them. The last couple of doses we've started picking up. Luckily...

Is Woody better than Brutus? I've looked at both at Sharrett Family Farms.

Re: Prolonged estrus(heat)
Is this confirmed heat? You put her with the boar and she stands? All 13 times? I've ran into some tough gilts and the only way to tell is to run them with a boar. Using boar spray can give you false positives on the tougher ones.

Re: Sow not milking well
We had the same thing happen in February with a litter. On day 9 the sow was dead. Vet said it was a uterine infection that never displayed any obvious signs. We now give everyone a dose of LA 300 post farrowing. Doesn't matter if we pull a pig or not. We also had a couple go off feed one other time...

Re: Show box opinions
We went with a rolling tool box. Husky and Stanley both make one. Decent size, fairly light weight. We've been using one for a couple years now and have seen more of them showing up in the barns. Almost every show we go to there is room for tack. If you a limited on space it may be worth the money f...
