Getting baby pigs sale ready...

What is a good way to add that extra bloom to baby pigs? 6-8 weeks old. Do people use electrolytes like at other shows? And if so I'd assume it's on a much lower rate.

Re: Undisputed

I have a litter out of him. My gilt laid down and had 17!!!! All alive. Some where pretty good sized too, but she did it all unassisted. She ended up raising 14 of the 17. Just weaned them on sunday.

Re: Half and half oats?

Sorry, maybe my question wasn't worded correctly. I understand the difference in the types of oats. I have used oats forever. Just have never heard of feeding them as a half and half ration from 8 weeks old till 175. In was just wondering if anyone is doing this and how their pigs grew. More of a cu...

Half and half oats?

Can feeding half oats and half feed work well? I have heard this twice lately and was wondering if there was something to it. A friend was told by the breeder he bought a pig from to feed his pig half oats and half feed until the pig was 175 lbs. I just don't see how that's enough feed to make the p...

Re: Tough Decision

I would feed all of them Lindners. But then again, that's all I feed because it proven and it works for me. That being said, if you have fed something else for awhile, and it has worked for you, and you know how to feed it, then I'm not sure I would change.

Re: 20,000 for a 50# gilt?

Hey, and I have a question. While at a few sales, I've watched the seller bidding on their own pigs driving up the price. Seems like there is something wrong with that. Or is it just me?

Re: 20,000 for a 50# gilt?

Yall should come to Texas and watch a sale... lol. I watched a boar pig go for 24k a few weeks ago. Then the next day at another sale, I watched 3 go for 55k, 24k, and 14k. All three were from one guy. When his 4th only went for 1200 the ring guy said, that'll hurt his average.

Linders feed reps are very very helpful. Sometimes you have to text and wait a bit, but they will absolutely get back to you.

Re: Am I overreacting?

Thank for the replies. I had every intention of calling him and voicing my opinion, but I am gonna wait till I run into him in person. It's a small County. That way I can have a conversation and explain my point of view. I do need to say that I like the guy. And I think he does a pretty good job run...

Am I overreacting?

I don't like anyone coming in my barn when I'm not there. Today my County agent came to look at my County pigs unannounced and without me there. He also has two kids that show against us and everyone else. So he gets to see everyone else's pigs and see if there any good or not but we don't get to se...
