Re: KGB-Holding options... Need Help!
If she weighs what you say she does she will probably be losing her freshness. I would run her at 3lb of fitter 35 and lot let her eat anything else till she learns to eat it. On show day blow the gut out a little but not too much by feeding her a little base feed and depth charge.

Re: Fitter 52
KGB: So what feed like two pounds of fitter 52 with like 3 lbs of purina 709 towards the end of the project to burn fat and hold weight gain? What would be your rate of gain with something like that? I have a hog this might be perfect for so I am just trying to get an idea. Could you also use this i...

Re: Holding Options
Its way to early to hold. You need to keep weighing the hogs regularly but I would not hold a hold until they at least hit 180 to 200 lbs. Right now that hog is still developing and you do not want to compromise his/her development. You have plenty of time to hold after that if you are will to spend...

PBG "Laird" Open House
Did anyone go to the open house? If so, can you provide a summary of the crosses that you liked or did not like? I am interested in Take Aim, B52 and Undisputed. As well as how is exclusive looking?

Re: Water and Diarrhea at show
Yes, this happens all the time at our state fair and county fair. The fair water is usually high in chlorine which can affect the hogs if they are not used to it. We always bring our watering devices in and we purchase a chlorinator from sullivans so this does not happen. Definitely do not want the ...

Re: ohio state jr. cossbred show?
No problem. I watched most of it as well. My daughters fair is at the end of next week so try to watch some good shows to try to compare our hogs. Those were some nice hogs.

No one know anything about him? Any information will be helpful. We are getting close to our fair and I am getting ready to put the finishing touches on the hogs.

Re: Keeping Water Cool
We use 5 gallon igloo coolers. I drill a hole in bottom of the cooler and purchased some fittings that I can then take some piping and then attach a nipple to it after I take the screen out of the nipple to increase water flow. We fill them up once a day or maybe more if the pigs are drinking it all...

Timed Out by Showtec
I typically use powerfill but I have an animal that has plenty of cover that I need to hold so I am going to use timed out from showtec as it has lower fat levels. Do the pigs like it? Also, if I feed them 4lbs a day as the label states how much do they gain a day?

Re: Need help gaining, use purina products!
Cyclone is dead on. When you are just trying to hit the minimum weights then you have to get rid of the depth charge, powerfill, etc. They are exactly what his says "fillers". Those hogs will only eat so much wasting pounds of feed with filler are a mistake. Sloping them also would be a go...
Re: B-12
I agree with Buckibri. I use trueglo that Hog Doc sells and I have not had an ulcer issues while using this product as it keeps their gut in check.

Judge John Staude, Stillwater, Ok
We have him as a judge this year and just trying to find out a bit more about him as I finalize how I will set up my hogs this year. I know he will want them sound but my question is more on the lines of does he tend to like them with more muscle or if he seems to prefer more cover on the hog. So I ...

Re: Barrow with a fat neck
Sometimes they do not care for the fitter 35 and depth charge. I would start slow like pigdadds says but I would also get some powerfill and mix in a bit with your feed. I had my pigs on some depth charge and fitter 35 and they were not eating well with my base feed. Once I mixed in some powerfill w...
