Look at the semen containers. Most have heat sealed ends. No boar stud is going to cut open the tubes, dilute the semen even more than it already is, then place it in new tubes. They are not going to put more time, labor, and materials into the product.

I have had 2 gilts that needed a C-section on their first litters. Vet. (2 different ones working at the same clinic) said there should be no reason they should not be able to farrow on their own in the future. One had a second litter normal birth, then would not rebreed again. The other sow had her...

Every feed company has their "fat" suppliment. If you are using Mooreman's, or Sunglow, or Linders, ect. I would go online and find their product. If you have access to more than one company, then research. Sumo, Heavyweight all have their fans.

back legs

I sold a pig that lately has "rubbery" hind legs. He doesn't want to stand. When he gets up, he drags his hinds legs a bit, then wobbles on his hind legs. He weighs around 200 lbs. No swelling in hocks. Any thoughts on cause or treatment ?

Lut has been used by commercial producers for a long time to farrow when the paid help is around. I am not one to overuse meds, but I have used lut more and more. My reason is to prevent sows from going over due date and pigs getting bigger and bigger then having farrowing issues. I luted all 8 of m...

Birchwood Genetic in West Manchester, OH was in on the first commercial hog AI over 35 years ago. They sell millions of doses a year around the world. Google them.
