Re: Pig Pen Fencing/Setup

Thanks for the input.

For ease of use and build I think this is the route we will go. The pen will be made to disassemble to use the area as storage in off months so this will cut weight a great deal.

Re: Pig Pen Fencing/Setup

PAC,
Are you using hog panels and if you do you said they climb but have you had an injury because of it?

Pig Pen Fencing/Setup

We are currently setting up a new barn for our 4H pig project. The last pens we had were solid wood in an old barn. The new pens will be in a new 40x70 pole shed on a concrete. We are thinking of open sided fencing to keep better airflow and we can use wood panels to block off in the cooler months. ...

Re: Fitter 52 feeding duration

Thanks, I will pick up an extra bag of 52.

270 barrow would you suggest replacing a pound of 919 with 52 or add it to his 6# of 919?

Thank you

Fitter 52 feeding duration

KGB, Question regarding the Fitter 52. We are in the home stretch of our program with 14 days remaining. Pigs are looking good but a touch more cover then we would like to see but as expected and on track with our goals. Now they are on 6# of 919 a day with a weight range of 230-270. There is no wei...

919

I have a question regarding 919 vs 819. From what I can tell 919 sounds like a good option to finish off our pig project. We have a range of 214-240 with 30 days to go, we have been feeding 819 to this point but the rate of gain may be a bit much moving to the end. I do have fitter 52 on hand to hel...

Re: Mite treatment w/ No Withdrawal Time

We have been using PROLATE and its worked great. We mix it in a 40oz water pump sprayer and wet them down paying attention to behind the ears and in the pits. 1 mix does 6 pigs well (I think the calculation was 15ml Prolate to 40oz water, I use a syringe to draw it up) I don't believe it has a withd...

Re: Fitter 52 vs Paylean

OK, Sounds like a good option. When is the best timing to use this product. We have a couple around 200# with another 50 days to go. They have some loose jowels already and a bit much cover. Would you feed to trim some of it now and possibly again later if needed or just wait until 28 days out to wo...

Re: Fitter 52 vs Paylean

What are the draw backs to the Fitter 52? We all know paylean has the hoof joint issue, does this high protein/lysine combo have negatives we should no about?

Ex. of possible side effect, Could I expect loose stool from the Fitter being so high in protein?

Re: Fitter 52 vs Paylean

With 10-14 day results, can I assume this to be a replacement to paylean?

How are these products different as far as end results?

Fitter 52 vs Paylean

I have been hearing and reading about the new Fitter 52, to start off it sounds like a great option to replace the paylean and remove the negatives that are associated with the paylean. After some research and number crunching I now have to wonder if the cost is worth it? Situation - Herd of 6 pigs,...

Re: weight gain

I read your comment of the heart condition. I am in the same situation with my 2 kids and myself.

We just use precautions in that we use solvent gloves when handling the feed.

Just a thought, everyone has to make the decisions that they are comfortable with.
