14' Sheep-Goat-Pig Low Pro trailer

We are doing some switching up with trailers. So I have a 14' x 5' x 5' Low Pro from Titan for sale. It has 2 cut gates. Each has a slider so there are 3 separate sections in the trailer. Trailer is a tandem axle, bumper pull with a rear ramp and side escape door. In excellent shape. Just a couple y...

Alum-Line Popper

Have a 6’ popper. Vent in roof. Divider gate. Rear double gate. Plexiglass inserts. Think we’ve had this for about 3 or 4 years and used probably ~8 times. Bought a bp trailer so don’t need this anymore. Popper is in MT. But I believe am getting ready to drive to WV-OH this weekend. Will definitely ...

Looking for Feed Bin/Storage Ideas

Looking for ideas to store feed, at least 3-400 pounds.

Want it to be rodent-proof and reasonably simple to feed out of, either with gravity-fed raised type bin or easy to scoop feed out of from the top.

What are you guys using?

Mixing Pigs

We usually source our pigs from one breeder.

Last 2 years we purchased some from a second breeder. The pigs are around 50-60#s when we get the second set and I'm looking for tips/tricks to mix pigs and minimize fighting, injuries and damage?

Thanks.

Re: Showmanship question

As stated, every judge has their preferences. I too was raised in a time that you flat did not touch your pig with your hand. It seems to be fairly common and accepted for a showman to occasionally tap their pig's back with a free hand or direct a pig's head with the hand to the face. We school on o...

Re: Trends in showmanship

Not a judge, but a parent and youth leader. I see some kids really working these pigs like you describe. Had a guy judging here a couple years ago that I place at the very top of the youth livestock judges. His comment, and I agree wholeheartedly, is that working these pigs as hard as some seem to, ...

Showmanship Rant

Kids finished up their fair a while back. Had a really good fair except for showmanship which is our main focus. We had a judge this year from the midwest that turned the junior showmanship final drive into a circus act. Pig panel alleys/chutes the kids had to maneuver through, around a guy in the c...

What happens if you add more of a product such as ultrafull or depth charge to help satisfy the pig's hunger.

Re: Grand barrow at Illinois kicked out

So, has anyone heard for certain what the barrow tested positive for?

I am hearing some reference to cortisone or cortisol being the reason for expulsion.

Guidance for Synchronizing and AI'ing

We have sold a few of the kids' gilts to a lady that has bred them naturally in the past. She is looking to AI and asking for help from us. Where can I direct her to see the best protocol for matrix, timing of semen order, etc.? Also, where is a good source of proven genetics for her to order semen ...
