Re: eating dirt
Thanks we are fine with not breeding her again just want her to get back to normal and start eating. Her temp has been in the 103’s the past 2 days and less discharge. Hoping we are close to the end. When we went to pick her up we saw that she was not being kept as promised and cared for so I do not...

Babies or no babies
Just wanting to get everyones option, I had 2 gilts I leant out for breeding with the promise of getting them back when I was ready (would not be until a year at the earliest) and pick of the litter. Well long story short we went and picked them up today after they have been there since November 28t...
Drooling
We have a show pig that started drooling and acting like his mouth is bothering him. He was hesitant to take his marshmallows last night, slacked off from eating and does not seem to have the energy he has had. This pig LOVES rubs and we had a hard time getting him to let us check the inside of his ...

Re: Weight gain and belly
They are getting 10-12 lbs a day. Fat cover is good on one and the other could use some more. They are getting 17 % protein fed.

Weight gain and belly
I am looking for something that will help blow my gilts belly out and still gain weight. We are about 54 days from show and there is no weight limit. They are about 220 lbs and getting hand fed 5 lbs each twice a day, more if they clean it up. They are fed separately.

Re: Long labor
I did see a few brown spots when she was discharging but thought it may be the poop from the babies. That could be it. the contractions you saw might just be from irritation with you checking all I can say is keep a close eye on her if she seems to get exhausted then I would definitely consider call...

Re: Long labor
She has not been exhausted from pushing bust since I tried to feel she has had a few big contractions. She looks pregnant to me and while she did get a little milk I never seen it "drop" like I was expecting

Long labor
I have a gilt that on 7/1 was at day 117 and I induced her. At 6:00 pm on 7/2 she had a light brown discharge. She has been having discharge ever since and it has changed to a more white color with a little chunks. Starting at 12:30 I tried to check to make sure nothing was blocking and was not able...

Advice
I am 5 months away from my first litter. I have worked on a hog farm producing market animals before so I do have experience with farrowing, but these are my show pigs and babies. Any advice as we approach the farrowing date? Anything you recommend to have on hand just in case. I want to be prepared...

Re: Missed it
I thought P.G 600 only worked on gilts that have never come into heat before?

Disinfectant
We are remodeling a barn so we can have more pigs. This barn has had horses more than 15 years ago and we have had sheep in it up until last year. We are digging it out and going to put fresh sand down. What is the best thing to spray to disinfect the ground before we put fresh down?
Thanks
