Re: Ultrasound
This may not be what you are looking for as I don't have a phone capable ultrasound, but I use a Pregtone with good success. It is much cheaper than an ultrasound and produces accurate results.

Re: Matrix
My research showed 85% came into heat between day 3 and 4. I was considering using it a few weeks ago and after talking with a vet on a large hog operation, they recommended 15 days of Matrix and day 16 pg600. Day 18 or 19 should be in heat.

Re: Matrix protocol
Thank you HogDoc. Exactly the information I was looking for! I hate to do it but I will cull this sow out and find a replacement. As for the gilts, i think i will wait a few months and breed after they are a bit more dependable on their cycles. Matrix is expensive! I really appreciate your help.

I have posted a few times here and everyone has been super helpful. I have a few questions about Matrix and how to use it. I have two gilts I would like to AI but their cycles dont seem to be very consistent yet. I was wondering about using matrix to synchronize them and ensure my timing for AI work...

Re: To induce or wait it out
I am in the same situation. I have a first time gilt that was bred on Oct 11 and Oct 12th. She has bagged up but no milk. I can see and feel the piglets moving inside of her. She has no nesting behavior, no milk can be stripped and there is no fluid discharge yet. She was due on the 2nd or 3rd. Her ...

Re: Boar not interested
This worked! Thank you all for the great advice. Boar jumped and successfully bred this morning.
What can I do to keep things moving in the right direction? Make sure his next few attempts are successful and he should continue on his own?
Thanks

Boar not interested
I have been lurking on this forum for about a year now and I have learned a ton from the posts on this forum. I am a small time pig farmer where I have one boar and a few sows. I have a registered Berkshire boar who I purchased at 9 months old. He is now 11 Months. He was AI conceived out of a boar ...
