Bent whip
Super odd question but, we have fair next week and purchased a pig whip that was accidentally bent. All of the feed stores in our area are completely out due to the fair, wondering how I could stiffen it up to make it work? Like some sort of tape or dipping it in some sort of solution that will keep...

Need to gain 25lbs in 2 weeks
As most of the fairs around our state have been cancelled, so has our live show. The way it’s working this year, we’ve just finished filming our video for the virtual show/auction and Are set to drop off the pigs on the 27th. They will be weighed at the scale and then loaded on the truck to be proce...

Re: Ulcer - Rectal bleed
Did you ever find out what it might’ve been? We have a 187 pound barrow that had recently started vomiting after eating, but only a couple times. He was fine for weeks and then tonight, he vomited four times, right after eating. We thought maybe he had licked something off the barn floor, seeing tha...

Re: Help with slippery concrete
Looking at tar paper to put just outside the pens, so they can get their “pig zoomies” out of the way and then make it to the outside. Really poor planning on the barn flooring.

Help us with our challenge for end of August fair!
My son is in FFA and the school will go and buy a group of pigs for those who don’t have their own breeders. There was a student who backed out and now, an extra barrow remains. My son already has his barrow for a fair in October but really wants to show one in August (naturally told us late). So th...

Help with slippery concrete
We are currently housing our barrow in the FFA barn at our school. First year and we have been warned of the concrete and how slippery it can be under the pigs when walking. Unfortunately, they didn’t grade the concrete when it was built and there have been accidents of pigs splaying and injuring th...

Calming a pig before travel
We have a gilt that is nervous about being confined in places. Won’t go in the scale (so we hope she’s at weight by weigh in  ) and I know she’s not going to want to load up into the trailer for fair next week. Anyone try any of the calming solutions? Ive heard of Pig Calm and Focus but...

Shelf life of Lean Maximizer
Wondering how long after the container is open, that a bucket of Showtec Lean maximizer would keep good for? We bought it last fair, which is August 2016 and once we were done with that, kept it sealed in a cool dry environment. Hoping to use it this year because we still have half a bucket.
