Barrow is panting

The barrow that I am taking to county fair panted really bad when I worked him tonight as well as two nights ago. He has never done this other than these two times. Today (the second time he has done this) was about 100 degrees during the day and 85 degrees when I worked him at 9 o’clock. He stayed ...

Re: non oil skin and hair conditioner

When we are conditioning at home, we rinse the pigs and then use normal suave conditioner on them.
At shows, we use show a peel the day before and hog heaven the day of.

Alternatives to shavings?

We have our pigs on concrete and try to keep 3-5 inches of shavings in the pen. However, trying to keep that many shavings in each pen is getting REALLY expensive. Are there any other bedding options? Straw isn’t really a good fit for us either.

Pigs on concrete getting sores on legs

My family has just recently poured concrete in our show barn. The three barrows that are in the pen with concrete are all getting rub spot/sores on their legs. They are located at the knee, sides of the legs, and back of the cannon bone. I am pretty sure that these sores are being cause by the concr...
