Creep Feed

This is our first year farrowing and need an estimate on the amount of feed we will need to get. Our local feed store has not been able to get the Ultra care creep feed so we are looking at using 203 then 303 and transition to the regular HSC diets after that. My question is how many bags of each sh...

Re: Champion Drive

I am sure that KGB will weigh in on this however from previous posts it has been mentioned that Champion Drive will not burn cover. If you need that you should use Fitter 35.

Re: First Time Traveling, Need Advice

If you have a month before the show you have some time left to ensure that you are not overweight, there are lots of feeds out there to help out. We prefer Honor show chow products and in particular Powerfill to help hold. You can post in the feed section with what you are feeding and someone we can...

heat mat

This is our first time breeding. We are trying to make sure that the babies are warm enough and want to use a heat mat. After reading reviews and product literature I am confused. Do you place them on the floor or sidewall of the farrowing crate. Also if anyone has recommendations for which brand an...

Re: First time breeding help

Thanks for all the information, I have been watching to see is she is cycling or not. Being a gilt I know that they are not always predictable on their first few cycles. I would have to say that she has probably not started to cycle yet. I check her twice a day and have not observed any signs. I als...

PG600 usage/ Dr. Amy/Hog Doc

We have a gilt that our kids would like to try and breed this fall. She is 8 months old now and either I have missed her showing that she is in heat or she has not started yet. I believe she has not started yet as I check her twice a day and she has had none of the usual signs. With the PG600 I noti...

First time breeding help

We have decided to let our kids try to breed one of their gilts this fall. She will be about 9 months old and weigh about 320. I have not noticed her cycling yet. I am looking daily to see is she will get a heat cycle or not. I think she may have had her first cycle at our fair earlier this month an...

Re: How to gain a few extra lbs

Not sure what you are feeding so that would help for people to make suggestions on what to do. You can try feeding three times a day if that is possible for you. Also the fat is high energy low weight. Usually you would be better off with a bit more feed in the diet vs the fat to add weight at this ...

Re: skin care

We use baby oil every night for the last few weeks. When the kids are done walking for the night the pigs visit the wash rack for a quick rinse and cool off, then a light spray of baby oil gets rubbed into their skin. Our pigs then get walked again in the morning and rinsed off after the walk. We do...

Re: Starter Program?

I to am interested in this topic. This will be our first year breeding any pigs and am looking at options. We normally feed Purina products and that is probably the best way for us to go. However I would love to hear suggestions as well.

Re: Information on how to feed

I do not know of any good books you can read on how to feed a show pig. I know many of the feed companies have information on their web sites. We prefer Purina Honor Show Chow based on the support we receive and the quality of the products. I would start by visiting your local feed store/mill and se...
