Re: Need muscle on my gilt
I personally have seen really good results from the 4.5g/per ton ration. It gets a muscle pop and weight gain with less risk of the attitude problems.

Re: Need muscle on my gilt
You might want to consider paylean and/or the final burst feed from Moormans.

Re: Which feed this year?
That's good to point out...I know for a fact that there have been plenty of pigs that have won on straight Honor Show Chow or other feeds.
What would you say sets Honor apart from other feeds?

Re: Which feed this year?
We use a combo of Sunglo as the base and then Purina and Moorman's supplements. I switched from Moorman's base feed to Sunglo for a couple of reasons. 1. I liked the inclusion of Amaferm in the feed (the main product in Sure Champ and Vita Charge) 2. I liked the higher fat content (5% vs. 3.5% in mo...

Not sure other than similar results are possible in humans. How were the piglets in terms of size and viability? What was the size of the litter?

Re: Sunglo Sumo or MoorMans MoorBody?
So...the supplements you mention are more driven towards putting fat cover on your animal. for rib shape and flank fill you need products like Purina Depth Charge and Ultra Full or Sunglo Full Tank. Keep in mind that these are fillers that might possibly drive down your ADG.

Re: Need a little advise (Paylean)
I would use the heavy weight and champion drive. Those are 2 different products. One adds fat and the other builds muscle. If your pig is cleaning up the feed you can also add more feed and try and push that way. Paylean is going to "burn" fat, or focus nutrients into muscle tissue building.

Re: need to build front half
Champion Drive is another good product. It's high protein and targets the top line and muscle development.

Re: Moorman’s final burst
No...there is not. I would use something like 919 and supplement Champion Drive. The 919 would give you a similar fat profile and the champ drive will help with the the protein percentage. Just as a reminder, the Purina feeds are meal vs. the pelleted Moormans...no big deal if you are wet feeding.

Re: Water help
Most of it has to do with over consumption...so like you said, control the intake. If you think about how you feel when you have a stomach full it's the same for a pig...they lose energy, can look bloated, etc. Also, I think there is a tendency to drink more when in the show setting because of nervo...

So...there is a ton of info on here. When it comes to pneumonia we've found the best option to be Respisure One at 1 day old along with a broad spectrum antibiotic...like Draxxin, etc. then at 3 & 6 weeks we use the Respisure One ER BAC Plus. The BAC PLUS covers erysipelas as well. For everythin...
Re: How early
With the exception of paylean I think you can start adding at your discretion. The biggest thing to understand is how long it takes to see results from what you are adding and then check that against your target show dates.

Water activates the expansion sooner. You want that expansion to happen in the gut to push out the sides and flank.

Re: Over Run Semen Quality
In all honesty, I wouldn't say the "overrun" part of the scenarios is the driving issue. The quality of the overrun is the same as full price. There are a number of variables in place here...the sow, the storage temp, the travel conditions, how soon you're ready use once it arrives, did yo...
