Ideas for keeping dirt pen dry around waterer
Looking for ideas on what to put under the pig waterer in a dirt pen. Seems like they always play with the waterer and make a mud mess to lay in. Other than pouring a concrete pad, what have others used?

How to divide budget for two pigs?
We will be purchasing 2 pigs for my daughter to show at our local show. Small show - usually 40 pigs total.
So my question is, if we have say $1000.00 to spend - do we buy one hog for $700. and the second for $300. or two $500. pigs?
What's everyone's thoughts on this?

Is it possible to successfully feed one single pig?
Just wondering.....is it possible to feed one lone pig successfully for a show? Do they really do better with an eating partner? Has anyone had luck feeding only one pig at a time?

Re: Sullivans Show Pig Paste
I remember one year a "friend" gave my son's pig something that was supposed to calm him down in the ring - the pig ran around the ring squealing the entire time he was in there. He just went crazy! Please try it at home first as every animal reacts differently.

Re: Poor feed conversion - thoughts
He told me 10 lbs/ day each. That's just hard to believe for me that they could even eat that much. We just finished showing and sold my daughter's market hog and the most we could ever get him to eat was 6 lbs/ day and that was gaining an average of 2 lbs/ day. I haven't been over to actually see w...

Poor feed conversion - thoughts
I have a friend feeding two barrows for the majors. He is feeding Lindner's - not sure exactly which one. I know he deworms regularly. He is telling me he is feeding 10 lbs of feed a day and has been up to as much as 12 lbs/day and is getting less than 2 lbs / day gain. Usually around 1.6 /day. Is t...

Most palatable Filler???
I have a barrow that we have been pushing. Our show is in one week. I have tried Full Tank and Depth Charge, but he does not care for either and will back off his feed when I add any more than 4-5 ounces of Depth Charge per feeding. He is still needing some fill thru the middle, but feed intake need...

My daughter's barrow started out very heavy muscled. We have had to push him by feeding Heavy Weight for 2-3 months now. Our show is in 21 days, he still needs all the weight he can gain and I am worried he may get a little too soft at the end. We also started him on Lubrisyn about 2 wks ago. I am w...

Re: Using depth charge while pushing
What is the shortest time period to feed depth charge in order to get the desired look for the show? I've heard some people feed it almost the whole way thru and some just at the show. What do you recommend especially since I am having to push this one?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Using Depth Charge while pushing
I have a barrow that I need to gain 2 lbs / day for next 32 days. He has been doing this already on 16% feed and heavy weight. I would like to add depth charge now to give him more rib shape but don't want to reduce his gain. What is the best plan to accomplish this? Also, I am giving him 8 oz of he...
