Re: Shavings or Straw in Farrowing Crates

Some types of wood shavings have an anti-coagulant agent that can make umbilical cords bleed excessively.

Re: 2014 Houston Grand Barrow Clones

For that matter, how can you put A.I. and Mother Nature in the same context. Cloning is as natural as luting a boar to get it to jump a dummy, getting it to collect into a bag, adding extenders, putting in a Fed Ex van to drive it 100's of miles to a gilt who was PG 'ed, then bred with a plastic rod...

blood wart barrow

Has anyone ever seen a barrow with a blood wart on its back shown? He's a pretty good barrow.

Re: Shots needed

I suggest looking up 4 Star Vets in IN/OH. Especially Stoney Creek/Dr. Dale Hendrickson. They have everything you will need and can ship you the amount of doses you need.

Best of luck with your new endevour.

Re: mating

Minimum of 8 months so she will farrow no sooner than at 1 yr. of age. More people are going to slightly older gilts to help avoid farrowing issues such as stuck pigs.

Re: Double breeding

Several times. Tried hamp and york on york sow. Tried hamp and york on blue sow. My personal observation was it seemed one dose did all the fertilization and the other dose was too early or too late.
