Re: Feeding starter
There are a couple parts to this equation other than just saying, "it was the wrong feed." Genetics play a large roll in how your pig converts feed. For us it is always important to understand what sires are behind the pigs we buy. Also, it is important to know how much your pig should be ...

Lol...in the pens we have used textured stall mats. I would advise finding areas outside of the barn to exercise your pigs.

Re: Pregnant pig?
I have a breeding friend that had one like this on her last gestation that would do something similar around the same time every month. Ended up having one of the biggest litters of her career.
Re: Paylean
It absolutely does improve weight gain significantly. It works best in animals that are already eating well and gaining normally. It has some risks: 1. It can cause attitude problems, especially in stress positive pigs. 2. Pigs need to be structurally correct, especially in movement, or it can exace...

Re: making pigs dense
My guess would be that it means more flesh and muscle mass. Genetics and selection will play a huge role in what happens, but supplements like Champion Drive and Moorbody can help. We like to start using fat products (we use Sunglo Sumo and Moorman's 3-D oil) early on, before you need realize you ne...

Could be a staph infection, too. That gets treated with pen-G. Yes, it can spread.

She looks really good! I think you need to get that belly dropped and add some cover (fat). she is nice through the hams and dropping that belly is going to balance her out. Be careful with pulling back feed like that. That is not very much feed for a 200# pig. You should be feeding about 5-6 lbs a ...

Re: Heavy structured cross boar
I used Table Max at Hi Point on a sow that need some heavier structure and he came through. Pigs were big boned, barrel ribbed, and big muscled. The muscle is a little softer, but nothing a little champion drive or fitter 52 won't help pop out. I was also impressed with the flexibility.

Re: respiratory congestion
Although off label for pigs, Nuflor has been outstanding for us in knocking that stuff out, especially when Draxxin doesn't work. We'll also use banamine to help combat any discomfort or inflammation.

Re: Rebreeding
The biggest thing is how much she is eating and how she is looking. If she's starting to get skinny your chances of success are less. I don't think the issue is whether she will cycle. It's whether the breeding will take. She should cycle no matter what.

Re: Newborn shaking head
There is a virus that passes from the mother that causes this. Unfortunately is doesn't get better, but pigs can survive to full size with it. There is a thread in here about it form some time ago.

Re: 33 days until weigh in
When you say top cover, do you mean add muscle or he need more fat/softness?
Champion drive will do really well to help with top side muscle. You can increase heavy weight to 8oz per feeding also.
Does the pig clean up the feed? Is there room to feed more?
