Re: Stubborn Barrow HELP!!!

Physically separate the pigs. If they are in the same pens move one. If they are next to each other then block it to where they cannot see each other. That will help break the bond.

Re: Pig hive like rash

It sounds like mites or biting flies. I would spray the pigs down with bronco and spray the pens down with permethrin. I would do this every couple of days. Also give the pigs a round of ivermectin.

Re: Advice Needed: Stubborn Dream Barrow.

One, I would say if you just got him then I would not start with the whip yet. I would wait a week or 2. Even though he is friendly he needs to build a bond with you and trust you. Then start working with him and make the whip a good experience. You can just rub him with it while you walk. Let him t...

Re: pig with blood in its feces

Take a stool sample to your vet. It will only cost $20 and they can tell you if there are still worms.

Re: Super Stubborn Barrows! Help!!

If they are stalled together separate them. If they are stalled where they can see each other, block it off so they cannot see. This helps with breaking that connection.

Re: training our pigs

Do you have any reason to switch from what you are doing. Are you getting good results at your show. Well I would say you start training them when you receive them. I would start with bonding with the pig for a week or two in the pen. Get them used to you and give them belly scratches until they fal...

Not really sure what you are referring too. Extra skin like flappy or wrinkles.

Re: New to Showing. Need ideas

There are alot of factors to consider. What is the data of your show and weights. How old is your pig and what is the current weight. Call your local feed store and find out what showpig feeds they carry. The 4 popular names are Moormans, Lindners, Purina Honor Show Chow and Sunglo. Pigs with differ...

Re: HELP stubborn pigs

I hope that you have been able to get some results. I would say just open their pens and walk away. Let them come out on their own and explore. Maybe start feeding them some of their meal away from the pen where they have to walk to it.

Re: FEEDING ONE SLOW???

Feeding one slow is not pushing the pig to gain weight as quick. Some people like to buy a pig that will be 6mo old at show time. This generally means they dont have to worry about weight as much. If you buy an older pig say a 7mo old at show time, you may need to start hand feeding earlier so that ...
