Re: Boar not interested
Yeah I would have to agree, take the boar away put him in a separate pen. One where he doesn't see the gilts and sows as well. I've had young boars before until they get used to breeding, sounds funny, staying in the same pen almost comes like something normal for the boar. This year with new boar h...

Best feed brand for the money??
So here's the deal, raised pigs for quite sometime and have used honor with good success from birth till time they leave my barn. Problem with honor 209 is costing $36 a bag. After running couple bags of 209 through each litter I begin feeding the base mix, that bag runs right around $57 or so for a...

Re: X-BRED Classic
I would suggest the show, not the sale. Get a really good idea of the hogs as you can really see them get out and about instead of just walk turn walk in a small area a sales ring. Plus you get input from the judge as well.

You can go to Walton Webcasting Archives and watch the show if you're interested in seeing them and listening to what the judge says about them.

Re: Mouse Trap
Well we can scratch the litters or even seen him in person probably. That is unless you've been to Southern Gold within last couple weeks. Spoke with them and this was a boar that was suppose to be a crossbred classic entry but Decker's parted with him before. So brand new. Got all the information I...

Re: Heavy Weight & ultra vs depth charge
Just going off personal opinion but probably wouldn't be using Heavy Weight at 150 pounds pig is still young and has a lot of it's own growing to do. As far as ultra full vs depth charge, it's my understanding the ultra full drops the lower part of the belly and works on the bottom half in terms of ...

Re: Show day shine product ??
Thanks, yeah we've been conditioning them for about the last month or so and still 2 12/ weeks away from fair time. I had just planned on misting them down with water before going into the ring but figured I'd ask.

Show day shine product ??
We have a fair where you can't have an oil based spray on show day. It can be used leading up to the fair but on show day no oil containing products can be sprayed onto the pig. I'm sure there's other fairs that have this rule as well wondering what product or what is everyone using that works well?...

Honor grind and mix vs Pelleted
Have been debating back and forth as to whether one feed is more productive then another. What is everyone views with a grind and mix feed compared to a pelleted feed?? Thanks
