Re: Hamp boars cancelled pedigrees☹️?
Admit I am very displeased with recent announcement from NSR to back up on common sense breed purity standards. So wish other breeds would stand up, grow a set and administer similar. Ethics matter to some and should matter to all. “Teach, teach your children well .......” Lyrics from Crosby, Stills...

Re: Market facilitation program - your money
Second half of the payment arrived before government shutdown.
Not keeping me whole due to reduced exports the payment remains a value.
Hope all were able to participate.

Re: Sow won’t cycle
Some have success using matrix or swine mate plus pg600 shot.
Hopefully you have a teaser boar that you use for heat check. Some sows just don’t respond without a boar.

Re: Hamp boars cancelled pedigrees☹️?
NSR has recently updated their website with boar information. Check it out if you have not. This is just fantastic public accountability. ALL BREEDS should do same. Ethics matter to some. Of Us. Frozen boar I have used is first on the list (Walridge Trump) at 99% pure. Thrilled. Have boars and gilts...

Re: breeding gilts
Teaser boar should be 9-10 mos old to really crank out the pheromones in his saliva that turns the girls on. How are you exposing him to the gilts? Stressing them by hauling them around in a trailer for an hour can help. Mixing with other pigs is also a good stress inducer. PG also works well in mos...

Re: Hamp boars cancelled pedigrees☹️?
Very refreshing email received today from the NSR on the issue. Good idea on sow testing. This will set a limit on how many hamp sows that can be used to make public offered breeding stock. I only have one generational hamp sow derived from primary showpig boars, my other hamp sows are true pure sow...

Hamp boars cancelled pedigrees☹️?
Very soon will be ordering hamp semen for some sows and have been hearing that new genetic testing has found several boars that have a pedigree have been found to be counterfeit and have had pedigree cancelled. I’ll add it’s well past time for the pedigree to mean something. I’m not confident that I...

Market facilitation program - your money
Swine producters can now complete the sign up for the payment program due to the imposed tariffs.
Download the form, fill out with your inventory on Aug 1, take to your local USDA office and process. $8 per head on inventory owned on that date.

Sounds like she is ok. When parturition starts there is typically a large amount of fluid excreted.
Have seen a few drops before and then farrowing normal.

Double d at Shipley’s is a great Hamp boar for structure plus good maternal value. Much better show pigs than expected as well.

Re: Commercial boars
Most all genetic companies sell commercial semen. About the only true commercial boars from show pig type studs is SGI. IBS from Iowa sells commercial semen but their web site is horrible for selection. As for pricing, simply ask the studs what they offer. I have bought many $10 doses from several s...

Re: Gilts not standing on Day 5 after Matrix - ADVICE NEEDED, TIME SENSITIVE!
Some gilts can be very temperamental to get them to stand. It does help a bunch to have a boar around. If you can find any pg600 it could help. My purely anecdotal observations is that a pg600 shot improves heat timing regardless of previous cycle. Other options are some form of stress nducement lik...

Re: Mud Surface
Dirt and mud are not a problem for feet but certainly can be for extreme hair growth as well as color stains.
I would be sure to use good quantities of wood shavings for bedding and try to minimize mud.
