A gilt should really get 2 shots of Farrowsure Plus B or Suvaxyn PLE-B (they are the same just different brands). The first shot should be given 8-6 weeks before breeding and the second at 2-3 weeks before breeding.

I've tried both, for me the SOA was almost worthless. I have been getting good response from both my sows and gilts with the Pheroboar.

To my nose they both smell the same, but to a pig they are obviously very different.

Phero Boar is the way to go. The sows and gilts seem to prefer it much better than the old boar spray.

<t>Chopster,<br/> <br/> Rob is correct. One caution on the oxy use, please look back in some older posts regarding the use of oxytocin. There is really good information there. Using it to early in the delivery process can cause still borns. I really don't like to use it until I think the sow/gilt is...

Seriously if you need more fill in the ribs and flank you need to get yourself some beet pulp, we use it quite heavily at the shows. It helps give use fill without giving us additional gain.<br/> <br/> Good Luck!<...

Chopster,

to give him more fill without added gain you might try using some beet pulp. About a small coffee can per feeding.

People can use what products they think work best for them or not. But please do not promote that they dehydrate a pig to get muscle pop.

<t>Hampy,<br/> <br/> What body builders do is take off as much body fat as possible. That is how they get that really ripped cut look. <t>Hampy,<br/> <br/> I really do not understand your last post. Seems like you are contradicting yourself.<br/> <br/> Simply put, muscle cells need to be hydrated. If you dehydrate them you will loose shape (pop). Watch what happens to a pig if you take him off free choice water that top will flatte...

<t>Actually more pop and freshness are not sucking water out of the cells but adding to it. Muscle is water and extra water in the cells creates more pop. An older stale pig will have less pop, as well as one who is under stress (like at a show) and not on full water.<br/> <br/> Personally, I have t...

<t>Yeah, I base mine on not having heat cycles but also I look at the underline and for some fullness in the lower flank belly area.<br/> Gilts especially show some fullness around each teat their nipples look more erect because of this fullness. I also look for a slight bulge in the belly back unde...
