Re: multiple sires
I have used Hamp semen on blue sows followed by York semen, just experimenting. From my experiences, most always the litter comes out of one of the insemenations.

Re: Lean Value's Outreach
At that stage, they were more complete. By that I mean all the pieces seemed to fit together. It was later (300+) that the legginess appeared. They had plenty of top shape. They were square to the ground, not way out there. I sold both bred gilts and now I wish I had kept one of them.

Re: Lean Value's Outreach
I used him a year ago on a Super Monster daughter. I got very marketable pigs. Nice composition at 40-60 lb range. Sold all the barrows right away. I later bred a two gilts and sold them this fall. When I saw the boar at LVS he is moderate framed. However as the gilts grew they were the leggiest, ta...

Re: DeOrnellas show pig sires
Biologically speaking, clones do NOT always have the identical phenotype (outward appearance) as the original or even with each other. Some minor differences, such as white feet, width of belt, are influenced by fetal environmental factors. We just expect them to be "identical". There is m...

help with Matrix
Can Matrix be used to shorten the time between heat cycles ? Example: sow is in heat Sept. 1-2, can you start Matrix Sept 3rd-17th and hope she is in heat a bit earlier than she would have been on Sept 22 ? Or is Matrix more often used to extend the heat cycle beyond 21 days ?
thanks
thanks

Breeder's Choice Sale is usually in mid December. Numerous breeds and crosses are usually represented. It is held in Eaton, OH on the western edge of Ohio just south of I-70.

Re: Can't Get Gilt to Lock Up
Not every gilt/sow has the same perfect behavior. I personally would breed her while she ate, trying your best to estimate the optimum time. Some gilts seem to have a very short "standing" time.

Re: Hamp Boar?
We have pure litters out of 4 different Hamp boars from three different studs. The stoutest, most muscular, widest by far is the Look at Me litter from LVS. I don't think he will down size them too much though.

pure
The key word is PURE Hamp. A pure Hamp does not carry the recessive red gene, it would be homozygous black X black. No doubt there are "hamps" with and without registration papers that are heterozygous black X red. Black is dominant, that is why you used the word "carrier".
