Re: Ground Feed Suggestions
I suggest using Purina HONOR Showpig Mixer (formerly Showpig Premix) instead of Sow Mix. Sow Mix doesn't provide all the vitamins. It is designed to add to an existing grow finish premix to fortify for sows. The formula you listed is missing most of the minerals and vitamins needed. Replace both Sow...

Re: Need help to get wider!!! Fast
Well, it appears no one has or is going to answer. I'll take a shot at it. Width comes from 2 things: Genetics - the skeleton is naturally going to pull or push apart as the pig grows because that is the way it is made. And, in this case if the pig doesn't have width in it's genetics it's not going ...

Re: Ground Feed Suggestions
Some questions:
- what did you feed last year?
- what part of the country (state) are you located in?
- by “feed recipe” what are you referring to?
Thanks

Re: KGB help Fitter 35
Powerfill is the original product for managing weight gain.
3 lb/day = 1.0 lb/day gain
If you need less:
(Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal meals):
Powerfill. 2 lb
Champion Drive. 1 lb
Depth Charge. 1/2 lb (8 oz)
The pig should gain about 0.75 lb per day.

Re: Gain weight
Just some thoughts (and questions): - what is Thomas Moore? - if you’ve had 2 pigs that needed to be pushed in the last 2 years, I suggest looking at your program: - are you purchasing pigs that are too young? - are the pigs getting sick doing the way? - what is your management program like? - I wou...

Re: Locked up pig
Three things can cause this: 1. Stress gene. If it’s this the pig usually does 2. A gene in the Duroc and Hampshire breeds (usually not fatal) 3. Lactic acid build up in the muscle, couple with either calcium or potassium depletion. There is a product called lactanase. (NOT lactase). Lactanase break...

Re: KGB HELP - Holding Weight/Lose pounds
In any event the way to slow and possibly lose some weight is to feed:
(Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal meals):
high Octane Fitter 35. 3 lb
High Octane Depth Charge. 8 oz
NO other feed

Re: KGB HELP - Holding Weight/Lose pounds
I’m not sure what the statement: A week ago I added Fitter 35 follow g the total ration it suggested” means.
What is he currently being fed total per day (how much feed and how much Fitter 35)?

Re: "ABC Supplement Formulated to Target XYZ Body Part"
A few answers: Fitter 35 and Fitter 52 don’t target belly fat. Not sure where that one came from. Game on is a fat product It isn’t just protein, fat and fiber content it’s the ingredients that make up the supplement. Otherwise just increasing soybean would result in the same thing. Which is not the...

Re: KGB Purina suggestions on holding
I apologize that I didn’t see this earlier. But, I have to confess the feeding plan you described is very confusing. If you do the math with amount of weight each pig can gain and the number of days left it looks like this: 150 lbs / 100 days = 1.5 lb / day gain 140 lbs / 100 days = 1.4 lb / day gai...

Re: Help with beet pulp
Just a thought we (Purina Honor Show feeds) have a product called Powerfill that is specifically designed to slow growth and keep the pig looking great. Actually, look better while slowing growth.

Re: Help with beet pulp
Beet pulp is a filler. It has very, very little nutritional value. Pigs have daily nutrient requirements that must be met so they don’t lose muscle, fat cover and freshness.
Just using beet pulp is a recipe for disaster.

Sorry just saw this. Powerfill. Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal neals: Powerfill 3 lb Depth Charge. 8 oz Pig should it is gain 1 lb per day. Or, if the pig has some extra fat: Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal meals: Fitter 35. 3 lb Depth Charge. 8 oz Pig should gain 0.3 lb per day. After ...
