Re: 46 days until fair and show pig only weighs 101lbs PLEASE HELP!!!

11 lbs a week is about what a 100 lb pig is supposed to gain.

Unfortunately it looks like you got a pig that is too young for your target show.

Re: Products to replace Paylean

Nothing is a one for one replacement for Paylean. But there are products and strategies you can use. Sorry for the long winded answer. If you need to add shape up high the combination of Game On (Sunglo) and TrueFit (True North) is really hard to beat. But it will not improve gain like ractopamine d...

Re: Worming Breds

You sure can but if your herd is negative for mange Safeguard EZ scoop or one of the other 1.8% Safeguard products is probably a better choice for de-worming sows before farrowing. Many producers just do it when they load sows into their maternity stalls.

No

I guess if she settles and is otherwise getting along fine there isn't much to worry about.

Re: Magna wave

Magna wave PEMF does what they say it does. It isn't a miracle do everything but it does increase blood flow, reduces inflammation and pain and increases range of motion. The tighter wound the pig is the more often you need to use it. We use our machine on every pig in the barn at some point. There ...

Re: Duroc possible stress carrier???

Follow the same timing as the directions on the label but since the envelope is for a 1200 lb horse instead of a 300 lb pig use about 1/4 of the envelope per dose. An easy way to do that is mix the entire envelope in a bottle of dextrose and then feed 125 ml each time. Some clients have switched to ...

Re: Lactic Acid Build Up ***HogDoc question***

Hi Someone gave me a heads up this post was here. I don't look in as much as I used too and I've been dealing with some health related issues of my own so I'm glad they did. 1. The baking soda is a good idea 2. TrueGlo has two different ingredients that have been researched and demonstrated to incre...

Re: strep vaccine?

When people say strep vaccine they likely mean Streptococcus suis.

Re: probiotics pros and cons do they help with weight gain

Hog Doc, I am looking at using your Tru Glo, and have a few questions regarding using it for my pigs overall gut health on an everyday basis. One, am I reading it right, does it contain both prebiotics and probiotics? Two, does it contain anything for structural integrity, hoof and foot health? and...

Re: worming weaned pigs

You have a few choices when deworming young pigs. Ivermectin is one option but safeguard in the feed is a much broader spectrum dewormer. If you are satisfied that large roundworms are the only issue you can use Banminth and feed it continuously for several weeks at a very low cost and have the abil...

Re: True Glo vs True Guardian

TrueGlo does have more "stuff" but it's really meant for show stock rather than breeding. We do have some customers that feed it to sows in farrowing but Guardian does that job with a lower cost. Guardian doesn't really have a probiotic component. It does provide prebiotic but there aren't...

Re: Looking for Feed Bin/Storage Ideas

We see lots of different configurations around show barns. Take it for what it's worth. What I've noticed is when you get much bigger than a muck basket and into that 3-400 lb range getting feed scooped out of the top is difficult especially for short people and kids. I watched a kid where I was a l...
