not getting the papers

Post by 3acres » Tue Sep 16, 2014 2:31 pm

Is there anything that can be done if someone sells you a couple gilts and says they will register them and doesn't do it?

I got them just weaned on April 18th. They did get back to me a few weeks ago and said they took care of it, but haven't...I've checked at the registration office. I'm just looking into what, if anything, can done if they don't ever get to it....still giving them time to do it right now....I know people get busy....I'm just worried.

Thanks!

I had this happen to me a few years ago, gave the breeder plenty of time to get me the papers and didn't. So I decided to start calling the house phone every night at some point between 1 and 3 in the morning. Took 3 nights of getting woke in the middle of the night but my papers showed up. Do what you got to do!

Thanks for the reply! I'm glad to hear you finally got them! Funny what you had to do to get them! I'll keep at it! Hopefully it works out!

On a lighter note...I was on here a while ago asking about a Berk gilt I had just bought. I didn't know a thing about pigs let alone Berk bloodlines, which at the time I didn't know how she was bred, I had just got her and her papers hadn't got to me yet....that outfit got me the papers pretty quick. I asked if I should breed her and showed pics. People said they would. She turned out to be a daughter of Hostile Takeover out of a Money Talks daughter and I really like her. I have her 2nd litter on the ground now and am building up a herd of registered berks. Funny how things happen.

IMO, three weeks is nothing in paperwork time. It takes a week or more for ABA to get papers out if there wasn't a problem. Then if the AI certificate isn't there yet (I have had problems with the go to Berk boar stud) they toss it to the back of the line. Not to mention the fact that they don't call or email immediately if there is a problem. Add all this together and three weeks is pretty reasonable.
Add in PED and I haven't been registering litters until I know they are worth registering.

Yeah, you bet. I'm giving them time from when I talked to them last. Just getting prepared for if they decide to never do it. It'll be a month here soon since then. They said they need to register a gilt out of the same litter for themselves. So hopefully they do it. I personally would be embarrassed to let it go this many months. I have papers in hand on the stuff I'm selling and the transfer gets put in the mail the next day because of what I've had to deal with.

Yeah this PED thing is something! Scares me I guess, just starting to build. I actually have decided to not go any where with my pigs and just learn how to raise pigs for now and hopefully keep from getting it.
