Looking for show pigs in Central Texas
Looking for a show pig breeder; no specific breed- in Central Texas that has competitive hogs that won't break the bank. Need something for our local show only. No majors. Any suggestions??
Re: Looking for show pigs in Central Texas
If you don't already have a relationship with a breeder I suggest you go to the Texas pork producers website click on the breeders listing, it is broke down by regions, just pick a few close to you and start calling and visiting with them on the phone. You can generally tell in the first two minutes on the phone if you want to go any farther dealing with that individual or not, if you don't like the first Impression on the phone thank them for taking the time to visit with you about there pigs and move on down the list. Lots of good hogs all over Texas some big breeders some small breeders all are listed on that site just find one you can talk too and build a relationship with them.

Red Barn Genetics in Lorena Texas is having a sale on 10/3.
RBG is a small 6 sow operation that has some nice hogs available.
We only have about 8-9 crossbred hogs left for $400.
We also have a couple of DUROC barrows that we are asking $500. The DUROCS are bred to Iconic and really sharp.
Our earlier litters which we sold a few weeks ago are doing well.
Good luck finding your pigs. If we can help let me know.

I have about 6 litters out of that boar the oldest is about 4 weeks. I'm very pleased with them so far. The pigs have that up headed cocky look to them. I'll have a better idea of how he is doing by the time I see you in Duncan. I entered 4 weanlings this this year but no big boars.
