Mixing Pigs

Post by buckI » Mon Apr 17, 2017 1:39 am

We usually source our pigs from one breeder.

Last 2 years we purchased some from a second breeder. The pigs are around 50-60#s when we get the second set and I'm looking for tips/tricks to mix pigs and minimize fighting, injuries and damage?

Thanks.

I have two things to suggest. One, if you can keep them in adjoining pens where they can see and smell each other for a couple days before putting together that reduces fighting. Also, if that isn't possible, spray their noses with something strong smelling. This way they can't smell the difference it seems to reduce it. It doesn't matter what you do they are going to fight some. Those are just a couple of my ideas.
