Hi all,
I have one pig for my fair in July that I got this past weekend - I would say she's probably about 50 lbs. Right now, she is on mud because it has been raining where I live. The rain should stop after this weekend and dry up into dirt pretty fast, I believe. I have a small "house" in her pen that has plywood and bedding as the surface, which she goes into frequently. I forget about surfaces for pigs to walk on - is the mud/dirt bad for their feet? Like, will she get weak pasterns or are there side effects to the mud/dirt? She has a good walk and good feet and legs currently. She's a cross that's mostly white with some grey spots, so I know it's a given that she'll need more bathing and skin care...
Thanks!

Re: Mud Surface
Dirt and mud are not a problem for feet but certainly can be for extreme hair growth as well as color stains.
I would be sure to use good quantities of wood shavings for bedding and try to minimize mud.
