When would you purchase a pig for a show beginning the first of October

We are wanting to get a pig ready for the Mississippi State Fair in October. What is the birth time and purchase date of a pig to be ready for it. I am thinking a pig ready in April or first of may

In general, depending on frame size and genetics, a showpig should be around 250lbs by 6 months of age. That should help you as a guide. It's important that you buy good show pig genetics and have a feed program in place to achieve those results.
Our county fair is the first week in October and we buy pigs that are born mid to late March.
