slow down

Post by flatwoodscattle » Wed Dec 09, 2015 9:31 pm

Thanks so much for your knowledge throughout the year on this form. I tell my 4- h members to always
ask questions and this is a great educational tool for those in the southeast not in the middle of it all.

Our fair is in Feb. I am at 190 on my barrow gaining 2.14 I need to start slowing him down but do not
want to mess up his good eating habit. We are on the grower 18% and sure champ. Need a little more rib shape as well will
adding depth charge slow him down a little, or you have a better plan?

High Octane Depth Charge shouldn't slow down growth at 1 lbs or less per day. Powerfill is the product you need to slow growth. If your show is aroung Feb 15th, and your max weight is 280 lbs the pig can only AVERAGE gaining from now until show about 1.32 lbs per day.

That is not much, given the fact he's gaining 2.14 now. Please send me an e-mail at:
kburg@landolakes.com or kgburgoon@landolakes.com either will work, and I will send you some information on managing weight gain (a step by step method), and example diets etc...
