Average gain question KGB

Post by theman11 » Fri Jul 14, 2017 11:54 am

My hog needs some muscle tone and rib shape. He weighs 205 now with 41 days to fair. If I feed him a pound of fitter 35, a pound of champion drive, 3 pounds of 709 with 8 ounces of depth charge. What should my average gain be. I would like him between 270 and 280.

70 lb weight gain in 41 days = 1.71 lb/day. (275 - 205) / 41 = 1.71 lb/day.

It really depends upon the pig how fast they gain on that diet. But I would estimate 1.7 to 1.8. With that said there are pigs that would gain 1.5 and some near 2 lb per day. If you pig has grown fairly normally (1.8 lb/day average from 40 to 205, then he should be in the range you desire.
