Paylean

Post by Slumlord9242 » Tue Jul 10, 2018 10:51 am

So I read that some animals don’t need paylean but my sons FFA teacher said everyone uses it. I have a few pics of my sons pig below in link. Currently #243 and 16 days out. What is your opinion. Thanks

This only my opinion, I think he will show well without it. He might improve a little with it, but I am not sure if his feet would handle the extra mass

I think “most” people use Paylean, not “everybody”. If it were everybody you would already be feeding it.

And these pigs shouldn’t be fed Paylean:
1. Unsound pigs, Paylean doesn’t make pigs unsound, it takes unsound pigs and makes them worse.

2. Stress positive pigs

3. Very heavily muscled pigs that have very little fat cover

Looking at the PICs I think you can accomplish your goal by using Champion Drive or another high protein supplement. Your pig looks good, when you clip him you will also see a difference in muscle as the hair can hide some things. It is hard to tell from the pics but does he have any swelling on his rear hock. Could just be the angle of the picture. If he has any wobble in his step or does not put all 4 down strait them Paylean would do as KGB said and make it worse.
