New 19 feeds ?

Post by mict71 » Sat Apr 20, 2019 9:11 am

I was wondering what the research was telling when you went away from the pellets and made them all into meal form. I always felt they cleaned the pellets up better, had less waste, and less dust and coughing. Still feeding it just wondering why the change.

Good questions.

The new HSC Showpig feeds are meals (except the starters...those are still 3/32” micro pellets). Meal feeds are typically easier on the digestive tract than pelleted feeds.

The new HSC feeds (719, 819 & 819) have these technologies included:
- TASCO, specific specie of kelp which helps the pig deal with stress
- Ambitine, proprietary feed additive which supports gut (small intestine) integrity
- MCFA, patented and proprietary medium chain fatty acids, (part of coconut oil responsible for appetite and skin and hair quality, in addition MCFA also supports immune function
- Alleviate, help with gastric distress

All of these in combination with the meal form result in a healthier, better doing pig which translates to an improved physical appearance.

In short, it’s all about the health of the pig. Do they waste a little more feed? Probably. But, pigs are not usually judged on feed efficiency... they are judged on physical appearance. A healthier pig just eats and looks better.

Doc

So I’m kinda diggin the new feed technology you got going on. Is it available now? I just went to the CO-OP and they have 2 ton of 709 from March.

My real question of the day is this. With the added gut health stuff why would you need to feed alleviate along with the 719 etc? Is alleviate have other stuff for gut health care that’s not in the 719?

There are actually 3 feeds with High Octane Alleviate technology;
719
819
919
(619 does not contain Alleviate). There are many people who feed other brands of Showpig feed. These folks would benefit by adding High Octane Alleviate to their pigs’ diets.

So if I’m hearing you correctly if you feed an honor Feed and then you don’t really need to alleviate but if you’re feeding a different feed the alleviate can help is that correct

If you are feeding 719, 819 or 919 you don’t need to add Alleviate. If you are feeding anything else you need to add Alleviate.

KGB; The 819 that I have been feeding this show season is pelleted. Is Purina still making the pellets in the 819 or am I getting old feed?
