24 days out a little flabby

Post by Johhny5 » Mon Jul 01, 2019 11:36 pm

My sons pig weighs 250 and we are 24 days out. The pig has muscle but it’s a little jiggly when it walks. How do I firm the pig up this late in the game. Any help is appreciated. I can’t figure out how to add a pic or I would

If your maximum weight limit is 280 lb, the pig can average gaining 1.25 lb/day (280 - 250) / 24 days = 1.25 lb/day. So, if you haven’t already you need to take them off of full feed.

For the next 14 days feed:
(Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal meals):
High Octane Fitter 35. 3 lb
High Octane Depth Charge. 1/2 lb

The pig should gain about 0.3 lb per day on this diet. In 14 days the pig should weigh 254 - 255 lb with 10 days remaining. It should also take care of your “flabby” pig.

During the final 10 days the pig can gain 2.6 lb/day. (280 - 254) / 10 days = 2.6 lb/day. So, you can add 2 - 3 lb of regular Showpig feed to that diet.

Pig has always been hand fed, currently feeding 6lbs 819. No weight limit at this county fair.
