We are three weeks out from weigh in. We are about 225 want to be as high as we can. We are gaining on Heavyweight and Honor Show Chow. Would like to add fat cover over back but not loose on weight. We had a grand champion finished on Fitter 35 last year but we were holding her. What should we use this year?

What are you feeding (feed, supplements and how much of each)?

Honor show chow in self feeder with heavyweight top dressed
At night 8oz heavyweight in milkshake with 2 quarts of feed. They clean their pans at night.
These pigs have high muscle so we have stayed away from Paylean.

A couple things. Fitter 35 will help you with muscle, but it will also 1) burn fat, and 2) dilute energy content (calories) which is responsible for growth. So, if you want to be as big as possible I would not feed Fitter 35.

I also suggest you stop the self feeder and hand feed twice per day. You will have much more control over what you are getting into the pig. You didn't mention which HSC feed (that is what I was after... 719, 819, 919?).

My suggestion is to feed:
(TOTAL DAILY FEED; DIVIDE INTO 2 EQUAL MEALS):
HSC 819 5 to 6 lbs
Champion Drive 1 lbs
Heavy Weight 12 oz

I would mix all the dry ingredients together in a bucket, then add enough water to make a moist paste and then feed. Champion Drive will help make sure that the extra growth is more muscle than fat.

If you want them to gain even faster, add 1 oz per day High Octane Paylean 900 for the final 14 days.

719 we are not even gaining 2 a day. We are at 1.7. We have 19 days left and are at 200. Need to be 235.

We are feeding 719. I do not think I can get 819 here in town

Tomorrow 18 days out we will start hand feeding with what you suggested above for rations and add in the Paylean. We are not going to feed Champion drive. They are packing a lot of muscle. Weight is our issue.

One of the main purposes for Champion Drive is Paylean works much better with an 18% protein diet or better.

5 lb 819 and 12 oz Heavy Weight = 14.9% protein

5 lb 819, 12 oz Heavy Weight, and 1 lb Champion Drive = 17.5% protein

I found 819. I will get the champion drive. Still have self feeder in until tomorrow. Just because I need help moving it. They are cleaning up their pans.

Thank you! You have helped the fair mom immensely!
