For years I have used the High Octane paylean that you fed 2 oz with 5.87 # of feed. My newest bucket is called High Octane 900 and you only feed an ounce with 6# of feed. Did I miss something and things have been changed. It also talks about feeding the last 45 to 90 #. In the past we were directed to feed for 21 days. Thanks for the info

Our High Octane Paylean changed almost 3 years ago from Showpig Paylean Premix to Paylean 900.

History:
Year 2000. Paylean first approved for use in market swine at 0 to 18 grams/ton. Must be in a feed containing at least 16% crude protein for pigs weighing 150 to 240 lbs.

~ year 2002. Elanco (makers of Paylean which is ractopamine HCl)) submit new data to the FDA and get a new approval for the use of Paylean. That resulted in new usage regulations:
A minimum of 16% crude protein feed
0 to 9 grams per ton
Minimum weight of 150 lb
For the final 45-90 lbs of weight gain

The 21 days you refer to was never a regulation at any time. It was a suggestion for maximum length on Paylean at one time to help minimize side effects of ractopamine HCl.

By the way those side effects included cracked pads, cracked hooves, change in attitude, and unsoundness. BUT, Paylean didn’t (and still doesn’t) cause unsoundness. It takes unsound pigs (prior to Paylean use) and makes them much worse.

Hope this answers your questions.
