Fitter 52 feeding duration

Post by madarchery » Wed Aug 14, 2019 2:33 pm

KGB,
Question regarding the Fitter 52.

We are in the home stretch of our program with 14 days remaining. Pigs are looking good but a touch more cover then we would like to see but as expected and on track with our goals.

Now they are on 6# of 919 a day with a weight range of 230-270. There is no weight parameters at this 4H market hog fair. We had the big guy on weight lowering diets and actually did pretty good considering and now it is what it is.

Question I have, we are so close to the end we are trying to use what we have on hand. I have a 40# bag of the fitter 52 and I think this along with the 919 should get us were we want to be. But would we be better feeding 8oz starting today to show or hold off to see how they develop the next week and then add the 52 the last week going 16oz if needed? With 6 pigs we can either stretch 8oz for 14 days or 16 oz for 7 days.

Depending upon how fat the pigs are, it generally takes 1 lb per day for 14 days (without added fat in the diet... like Heavy Weight).

So, I’m not sure how to advise you. It will take 84 lbs (6 pigs, 1 lb/day, for 14 days). Feeding half the suggested rate will probably get you half way there. If you do not want to purchase another bag I can understand that. I guess my suggestion would be to pick the 3 pigs out that need it most.

Thanks, I will pick up an extra bag of 52.

270 barrow would you suggest replacing a pound of 919 with 52 or add it to his 6# of 919?

Thank you

I suggest reducing the the base feed by the same amount of supplements you add. (Replacing the Base feed).

Should you keep the lysine level at 25 g and and add Fitter 52 or just reduce the base feed and add Fitter?

If you are feeding Fitter 52 to burn fat as well as for muscle, remove any fat supplements from the diet and add Fitter 52 to the Base feed.
