Front chest fill

Post by mict71 » Sat May 02, 2020 5:36 am

I was wondering what is the best way to fill out the front chest area right behind the front shoulders without slowing the rate of gain. The pig is currently 150 pounds with 90 days till our fair. Currently feeding 719 and a half pound of champion drive.

If it is immediately right behind the front shoulders that is the fore rib. You can use High Octane Depth Charge at 1/2 lb per day (start at 1/4 lb per day and in 5 to 7 days increase to 1/2 lb) to expand the last 3-5 ribs.

However, the fire rib is not going to expand. At least not to the extent the ribs behind it. The only chance I can see is to keep Depth Charge in the pig’s diet at a minimum of 1/2 lb per day from now until show time.

Okay that is what i was afraid of. It is the first rib that needs it the most. I will start feeding that and see what happens. She is good everwhere except right behind the shoulders. Thankyou
